Reverend Brooks Harrington

Reverend Brooks Harrington founded MJM in 2006. Brooks is a former US Marine infantry officer. He attended George Washington University law school in Washington D.C., graduating cum laude. He then served on a law school faculty in D.C. for two years and as a federal prosecutor there for five more years. He returned to his home in Fort Worth, and was in private litigation practice from 1983 to 1991 and from 1996 to 2006. He has been honored repeatedly by vote of his peers as a “Texas Superlawyer” in Texas Monthly magazine and as one of the top 100 lawyers in Tarrant County in the Fort Worth Business Press.

From 1991 to 1995, Brooks attended Perkins School of Theology at S.M.U., graduating summa cum laude, and was senior pastor of Diamond Hill United Methodist Church in north Fort Worth. He was ordained a deacon in 1993 and an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2008. Brooks serves as an Associate Pastor on the staff of First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth and as the legal director of the MJM, working seven days week.

Brooks has been married for more than 35 years to Professor Maxine Harrington, Associate Dean of Texas A&M School of Law. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Linda H. Gregory

Linda Gregory joined MJM in August 2013. She has been a practicing attorney for 20 years, the last 18 years in Tarrant County. She attended the University of Houston, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, magna cum laude, and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She worked for Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (formerly West Texas Legal Services) as a domestic violence attorney for over 17 years, the last 10 years as the Managing Attorney of the Fort Worth Branch Office.

Linda has been married to Stephen Chiles since 2007. Collectively, they have four children.

Juliana Ipock

Juliana Ipock was born in Colombia. She came to the United States in 1998 after completing four years of College at the Universidad Externado de Colombia. Juliana became an American citizen in 2005. She graduated from Paralegal School at the University of Texas in Arlington in 2007. She joined the Methodist Justice Ministry in December 2007 and serves as our executive legal assistant and office manager, including interviewing, interpreting, and counseling. She also prepares and files court documents, working with the attorneys. Juliana is a state certified court interpreter in Spanish and English. She has been married to Brent Ipock since January 1999. They have two sons.

Jodie Connaughton

Jodie Connaughton joined the Methodist Justice Ministry as one of our staff attorneys in January of 2016. Jodie is originally from Arkansas. She moved to Wichita Falls in 2000 and graduated from Midwestern State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She received an Masters in English in 2004 from Midwestern State University. She graduated from Texas A&M School of Law in 2014. Jodie worked at Patsy’s House Children’s Advocacy Center from 2001 until 2008. As the Outreach Services Coordinator, she coordinated services for victims of child abuse in Archer, Clay and Montague Counties. She also presented sexual abuse prevention programs to all school children in those three counties. Then Jodie worked for SafeHaven of Tarrant County as the Children’s Program Coordinator from 2008 until 2013, helping child victims of domestic violence and their mothers. She has always enjoyed helping people and particularly enjoys helping children and adults overcome prior abuse and move forward in their lives. She have been married to Chris Connaughton since 2007. They have adopted three children through CPS. They adopted their daughter in 2011, and she is now twenty. They adopted their sons, who are biological brothers, in 2014, and they are now six and seven.

Norma Serrano

Norma joined the Methodist Justice Ministry in 2014 as our Intake Director. She is fluent in English and Spanish and, with help from Juliana Ipock, does the initial screening and background investigation of everyone who applies for our services. Norma also serves with Juliana as English/Spanish translator during our client interactions. Norma is a graduate of Lake Worth High School and now attends Tarrant County College at night. We first met Norma when she was our client. She now has primary custody of her five nieces and nephews, ages 16, 15, 13, 12 and 11.

El Reverendo Brooks Harrington

El Reverendo Brooks Harrington fundo el MJM en el 2006. Brooks sirvio en la Armada de los Estados Unidos como oficial de Infanteria. Luego asistio a la Escuela de Leyes de la Universidad George Washington, en Washington D.C., donde se graduo cum laude. Luego trabajo en la Facultad de Derecho en D.C. por dos anos y en la Oficina del Fiscal Federal por mas de cinco anos. Regresando asi a su ciudad de origen Fort Worth, donde trabajo en en una firma privada desde 1983 hasta 1991 y luego de 1996 al 2006. Ha sido repetidamente reconocido por sus colegas como “Texas Superabogado” en la revista Texas Monthly y como uno de los los mejores 100 abogados en el Condado de Tarrant en el Fort Worth Bussiness Press.

De 1991 a 1995, Brooks asistio al Instituto Perkins de Teologia en S.M.U., donde se graduo cum laude, convirtiendose en el Pastor Superior de la Iglesia Metodista de Diamond Hill al Norte de Fort Worth. Fue Ordenado Diacono en 1993 y se integro al Consejo de la Iglesia Metodista en el ano 2008. Brooks trabaja en la actualidad como Pastor Asociado de la Iglesia Metodista de Fort Worth y como director legal del Ministerio Metodista de Asistencia Legal, trabajando siete dias a la semana. Brooks ha estado casado por 35 anos con Maxine Harrington, Vice-rectora de la Escuela de Leyes Texas A & M, con quien tienen tres hijos y dos nietos.

Linda Gregory

Linda Gregory comenzo a ser parte de el MJM en Agosto del 2013. Linda ha sido abogada litigante en el condado de Tarrant por mas de 20 anos. Asistio a la Universidad de Houston, de donde se graduo con honores del programa de Economia. Posteriormente obtuvo su titulo en Leyes en la Universidad Centro de Leyes de Houston. Linda trabajo para la oficina de Ayuda Legal del Noreste de Texas (anteriormente llamada Servicios Legales del Oeste de Texas) como una abogada en el area de violencia domestica por mas de 17 anos, donde tambien practico como Abogada y Gerente de la Oficina del area de Fort Worth.

Linda ha estado casada con Stephen Chiles desde el ano 2007 y colectivamente tienen 4 hijos.

Juliana Ipock

Juliana Ipock nacio en Colombia. Llego a los Estados Unidos en 1998 despues de completar 4 anos en la Universidad Externado de Colombia. Juliana se convirtio en una ciudadana Americana en el 2005. Se graduo de la Universidad de Texas en Arlington como Paralegal en el 2007 y entro a ser parte del Ministerio de Asistencia Legal Metodista en Diciembre del 2007, ella se desempena como Gerente de la oficina, realiza entrevistas, interpretaciones y da consejeria. Tambien prepara y registra documentos legales al trabajar con nuestros abogados. Juliana es Traductora Certificada en el estado de Texas, y ha estado casada con Brent Ipock desde Enero de 1999 con quien tiene 2 hijos.

Jodie Connaughton

Jodie Connaughton ingreso al Ministerio de Asistencia Legal Metodista como una de nuestras abogadas en Enero del 2016. Jodie nacio en Arkansas, se mudo a Wichita Falls en el 2000 y se graduo de la Universidad Estatal Midwestern en el ano 2002 con un titulo universitario en Justicia Criminal. En el ano 2004 Jodie recibio su Master en Ingles en la Universidad Estatal Midwestern. Jodie se graduo de la Escuela de Leyes Texas A&M en el 2014 y trabajo dell 2001 al 2008 con la Organizacion Patsy’s House Children’s Advocacy Center, mas tarde se convirtio en la Coordinadora de Servicios de Expansion, donde cordinaba servicios para victimas de maltrato en los condado de Archer, Clay and Montague, ella tambien se encargaba de presentar programas de prevencion a menores en las escuelas del area. Posteriormente, desde el ano 2008 al 2013 Jodie trabajo en SafeHaven del condado Tarrant como Coordinadora de programas para ninos ayudando a menores y mujeres victimas del matrato. Ella siempre ha disfrutado el ayudar a menores y adultos a superar el maltrato y a seguir adelante con sus vidas. Ella has estado casada con Chris Connaughton desde el 2007 y juntos han adoptado tres ninos por medio de CPS. Adoptaron a su hija de 20 anos en el 2011 y a sus dos hijos uno de 6 y el otro de 7 anos en el 2014.

Norma Serrano

Norma llego a ser Directora de Admisiones del Ministerio Metodista de Asistencia Legal en el ano 2014. Norma es bilingue y con la ayuda de Juliana Ipock realiza el analisis y el estudio de todas las solicitudes de servicios que nos llegan. Norma tambien trabaja con Juliana como traductora de Ingles-Espanol en comunicaiones con nuestros clients. Norma se graduo del la escuela Lake Worth High y actualmente asiste al College de Tarrant County en la jornada nocturna. Nosotros conocimos a Norma porque ella fue nuestra cliente, ella ahora tiene la custodia principal de sus cinco sobrinos y sobrinas de edad 16, 15, 13,12 y 11.
